Astrology isn’t as old as the stars, but it is as old as mankind. Ever since the first humans gazed up into the night sky and pondered the changing face of the Moon, astrology has shaped the way we think about the universe — and each other.
Astrology has had a major influence on the tarot, too. Even though the cards were first designed as a game, they quickly became linked to the science of the stars.
The major arcana cards are each associated with either a sign or a planet. In the minor arcana, the four Aces and the court cards correspond to the four elements that play a crucial role in astrological interpretations. The remaining 36 minor arcana cards — the Twos through the Tens — all have a place on the 360-degree wheel of the zodiac.
